Tamika “Tami” Atkins is the Program Executive Officer of the Program Executive Office, Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives (PEO ACWA), headquartered at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), Maryland.
She previously served as Chief of Staff, Executive Officer and Director of Agency Services, PEO ACWA, and prior to that as Executive Officer and Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army Chemical Materials Activity (CMA). CMA successfully destroyed nearly 90% of the nation’s stockpile of chemical weapons, including all chemical items declared at entry-into-force of the Chemical Weapons Convention and assigned to CMA for destruction.
Ms. Atkins served in numerous positions of increasing authority at CMA from 1994 to 2014, culminating as Chief of Staff where she was responsible for the activity’s administration, including human resources, resource management, public affairs, logistics and information technology.
Entering federal service in 1987, she was assigned to the U.S. Army Ordnance Center and School where she served until 1994.
Ms. Atkins is a Maryland native, born at APG’s Kirk U.S. Army Hospital (now Kirk U.S. Army Health Clinic).
Her awards include the Department of Defense Distinguished Civilian Service Medal, Department of the Army Meritorious Civilian Service Award, the Department of the Army Superior Civilian Service Award, the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service, and the Achievement Medal for Civilian Service. She was also the recipient of U.S. Army Materiel Command’s Louis Dellamonica Outstanding Personnel Award for 2012.
