Joni Weamer is the project manager for the Bechtel Pueblo Team, the systems contractor for the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) that is under contract to the U.S. Department of Defense to close the facility, located at Chemical Materials Agency-West, formerly the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot in Colorado. Destruction of the stockpile was completed in 2023.

Before joining the PCAPP project in June 2025, Weamer was the mission integration manager at the Waste Treatment Project (WTP) in Hanford, Washington. In the past three years, Weamer has led special projects to overcome complex technical challenges, such as redesigning and replacing a system critical to the core vitrification process and building proficiency in operating an autosampling system.

With more than 30 years experience in project management and engineering, Weamer will lead PCAPP through closure, which includes the disposal of all secondary wastes, decontamination and decommissioning of facilities and equipment, disposition of property, and demolition of certain facilities.

Weamer has experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams through complex problem-solving and redesign of critical systems. Previously, she worked at Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, the latter where she was project manager for the Emergency Operations Center project that was recognized with a Department of Energy Achievement Award.

Weamer also holds a professional engineering license in the state of Washington and Project Management Institute, Project Management Professional certification.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, Weamer earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Washington State University.
