Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass
Joe Curcio is the project manager for the Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass team. His duties include leading the joint venture systems contractor team responsible for the closure of the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) through its ongoing Static Detonation Chamber operations and the decontamination, decommissioning and demolition work of the Main Plant.
He served as deputy project manager at BGCAPP from 2019 until he was selected as project manager in 2024.
Prior to BGCAPP, Curcio worked at high-hazard facilities in the nuclear arena. His nuclear experience includes management responsibilities at Savannah River, South Carolina; Hanford Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant, Washington State; Washington Closure Hanford, Washington State; the Separations Process Recovery Unit, New York; and the West Valley Demonstration Project, New York.
Curcio has more than 28 years of experience in project management and operations of large-scale nuclear, chemical weapons, and capital projects in the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration, and Environmental Management organizations, in addition to Department of Defense projects. He is a certified project manager, and he began his career in 1994 in nuclear operations after completing the naval nuclear power program, serving in the US Navy, and graduating with a Bachelor of Science from Houghton University.
