Pueblo Plant Partners Participate in Final Annual Emergency Preparedness Exercise

More than 2,000 individuals from local, state and federal agencies, including the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot and the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant, gathered in Pueblo, Colorado, May 3 for the final full-scale exercise to test their response to a chemical weapons stockpile emergency as part of the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program, or CSEPP.

Final Pueblo CSEPP Exercise Leaves Emergency Preparedness Legacy

Individuals from more than 30 local, state and federal agencies, including the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot and the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant, gathered in Pueblo May 3 for the final annual Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program exercise.

After a chemical weapon is drained of agent and rinsed with high-pressure hot water, Agent Washwater Separator tanks collect fluid before sending it to Agent Neutralization Reactors to destroy the mustard agent. The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant has two tanks, providing the plant with redundancy when neutralizing agent.

Backup Systems Allow for Safe Repairs

Pueblo Plant Workers Achieve Safety Milestone
