RICHMOND, Ky. – The Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) held a public event May 29 at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Richmond to commemorate the start of chemical agent destruction operations in Kentucky. Hundreds attended the event, which featured Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as the keynote speaker. Gov. Matt Bevin, Department of Defense and industry leaders also provided remarks.

Public Comment Period Opens for Blue Grass Army Depot Environmental Assessment

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Program Executive Office, Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives is considering a proposed action to augment the chemical weapons destruction capability of the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP). The action is being considered to reduce safety risks associated with processing nerve agent M55 rockets and components and to meet the requirement to destroy the U.S. chemical weapons stockpile no later than the congressional deadline of Dec. 31, 2023.

Event to Mark the Start of Chemical Weapons Stockpile Destruction Set for May 29

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) is scheduled to begin destruction of mustard agent projectiles in the Static Detonation Chamber (SDC) within the next several weeks. To recognize this milestone, the Program Executive Office, Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives will hold a public event Wednesday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at the Armed Forces Reserve Center, 233 Battlefield Memorial Highway in Richmond, Kentucky.

Chemical Weapons Facility to Test Public Address System

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP), located on the Blue Grass Army Depot (BGAD), will conduct a test of its Public Address (PA) system on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Nearby residents are not expected to hear the tones and announcements, but if so, should ignore any directives contained in the announcements.
