Throughout 2024, the Program Executive Office, Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives, or PEO ACWA, progressed with closure of the Pueblo and Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant facilities after destroying the final munition in the declared U.S. chemical weapons stockpile July 7, 2023.

PEO ACWA oversaw the safe destruction of chemical weapons at the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot, now known as the U.S. Army Chemical Materials Activity-West, in Pueblo, Colorado, and the Blue Grass Army Depot near Richmond, Kentucky, and continues to oversee the closure phase in both Colorado and Kentucky.
