Closing the Colorado Chemical Demilitarization Facility: 2024 Year in Review

The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant, or PCAPP, officially entered the closure phase in early 2024. The year has been spent decommissioning and decontaminating equipment and facilities, dispositioning no-longer-needed property, participating in permitting activities, and much more, with the goal of closing the plant across an approximately three-year span.

PCAPP is a state-of-the-art facility that completed the safe destruction of the chemical weapons stockpile at the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot (now known as the U.S. Army Chemical Materials Activity-West) in Pueblo, Colorado, in June 2023. For more project information and news, visit the PCAPP homepage on the Program Executive Office, Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives (PEO ACWA) website: https://www.peoacwa.army.mil/pcapp
