Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass is under contract to the Program Executive Office, Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives (PEO ACWA) to design, build, test, operate and now close the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP).
Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass is a joint venture of Bechtel National Inc., of Reston, Virginia, and Parsons Corporation, of Centreville, Virginia. The joint venture has three teaming subcontractors: Amentum, Battelle Memorial Institute and GP Strategies Corporation.
The companies of the Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass joint venture have been involved collectively in designing, building and/or operating each of the nine U.S. chemical demilitarization facilities. The team’s key managers have experience in all aspects of chemical demilitarization. For decades, the team’s companies have been engaged in community, charitable, educational and job-creation efforts in locations around the globe.

Bechtel National Inc.

Amentum, formerly known as AECOM, has more than 36 years of experience with the U.S. chemical weapons elimination program, serving as prime contractor at the following chemical agent disposal facilities: Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Umatilla, Oregon; Anniston, Alabama; Tooele, Utah; and Johnston Atoll, located 825 miles southwest of Hawaii. Along with other companies, Amentum operated and will close the Blue Grass and Pueblo, Colorado, chemical agent destruction facilities. The company provides a full range of science, engineering, construction and operating services in 14 major markets.
Battelle Memorial Institute

For more than 28 years, GP Strategies operated the Chemical Demilitarization Training Facility at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, offering courses in chemical demilitarization, laboratory operations, maintenance, emergency response and toxic-area monitoring. Additionally, GP Strategies has provided services at chemical agent disposal facilities in Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Umatilla, Oregon; Anniston, Alabama; Tooele, Utah; Newport, Indiana; Aberdeen, Maryland; Pueblo, Colorado; and Johnston Atoll.
