More than 500,000 projectiles have been destroyed at the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant as of Sept. 27.

“The destruction of a half-million projectiles is an amazing achievement,” said Kim Jackson, plant manager, PCAPP. “Our workforce continues to be up to the task of the safe and compliant destruction of the remaining stockpile.”

PCAPP is the third U.S. demilitarization plant to destroy 500,000 projectiles containing chemical agent. The other agent-destruction plants to destroy more than a half-million projectiles were located in Anniston, Ala. and Tooele, Utah. Destruction of more than 600,000 munitions at Anniston completed in 2011 while the Tooele stockpile, originally containing more than 1 million munitions, was destroyed in 2012.

“As one of three agent-destruction plants to destroy more than a half-million projectiles, our workers are part of an elite group,” said Walton Levi, site project manager, PCAPP. “They have achieved something truly historic.”
