The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant has destroyed more than half of the 105mm projectiles stored at the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot as of Sept. 15.

“The 105mm campaign has gone very well since it began in December 2020,” said Kim Jackson, plant manager, PCAPP. “In only nine months the staff at PCAPP has reached the halfway point of this campaign.”

The 105mm projectile campaign is the second of three destruction campaigns at PCAPP. The plant’s first campaign, destroying nearly 300,000 155mm projectiles, completed Sept. 5, 2020. The third and final campaign, the destruction of approximately 97,000 4.2-inch mortar rounds and remaining problematic munitions, is slated to begin in 2022 in the Static Detonation Chamber units.

“Our workforce has an average daily destruction rate of more than 650 105mm projectiles,” said Walton Levi, site project manager, PCAPP. “It’s a fantastic pace and more impressively, it has been achieved safely.”
