In June, the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) continued processing projectiles in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention pandemic recommendations. After the completion of the VX 155mm projectile campaign on May 28, a single Department of Transportation bottle containing VX nerve agent was successfully processed. Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons inspectors watched as operations for sampling Treaty-tagged mustard munitions were completed. Work continues at the Static Detonation Chamber 1200 site with concrete being placed for curbs, pedestals and piers for the off-gas treatment system. This system will be used when the Explosive Destruction Technology is converted to process drained nerve-agent rocket warheads when the current mustard-agent projectile campaign is complete. As of June 25, the total amount of agent destroyed is 149.5 U.S. tons.
