In January, the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) continued processing in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention pandemic recommendations. The Blue Grass Chemical Activity supported munitions transport for the start of the 155mm projectiles, containing VX nerve agent, destruction campaign which the BGCAPP workforce began on Jan. 20. Work continues at the Static Detonation Chamber 2000 site with two new facilities, the Personnel Support Facility and the Earth Covered Magazine, turned over for systemization and operations. As of Jan. 22, the total amount of agent destroyed is 89.1 U.S. tons. Currently, the Static Detonation Chamber is processing munitions while the main plant is preparing for the next destruction campaign.
