In November, the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) continued processing in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention pandemic recommendations. Inspectors from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons successfully conducted the 24th systematic stockpile verification inspection at the Blue Grass Chemical Activity (BGCA) assuring accountability of every chemical weapon stored at BGCA as part of U.S. compliance with the Chemical Weapons Convention. Following Factory Acceptance Testing the Vertical Rocket Cutting Machine, along with additional components, arrived at BGCAPP for installation. Work continues at the Static Detonation Chamber 2000 site with the addition of a protective layer to the earth-covered magazine to protect the magazine from outside elements such as rain. As of Nov. 27, the total amount of agent destroyed is 87.3 U.S. tons. Currently, the Static Detonation Chamber is processing munitions while the main plant is preparing for the next destruction campaign.
