The Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) continued systemization, or testing, activities in April for preparation of operations. Officials from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) toured the Blue Grass Static Detonation Chamber facility on April 1 as part of a final engineering review prior to the start of operations. On April 5, the SDC facility went on lockdown, one of the last steps before operations begins. This is designed to familiarize the workforce with the proper procedures and facility function and work out any final issues before the munitions are introduced to the facility. The Blue Grass Chemical Activity participated in a U.S. Army Chemical Materials Activity evaluation to show readiness to support agent operations. In the main plant, a total of 56 of 59 systems have been turned over to the operations team.
