Two Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) paramedics received personal recognition from an Army general officer Feb. 13 for their actions in responding to a medical emergency on the BGCAPP site in November 2016.
Scott Webb and Brandon Johnson, both paramedics with Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass, along with seven Blue Grass Army Depot (BGAD) firefighters, were presented letters of commendation from Brig. Gen. Richard B. Dix, commander, U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command, at the main depot fire station.
“This commendation really solidified my feelings about choosing to come to BGCAPP,” Johnson said. “It’s a good feeling to be recognized for something my training and background prepared me for, and my job here is very different from my nine years of street experience.”
Johnson said he is grateful for his years of working for Madison County and other medical-service providers, and that his experience provided him the expertise to help identify non-occupational symptoms in the BGCAPP patient that required a specific response and medical care.
“You gentlemen made a family very happy that day,” said Col. Norbert A. Fochs, commander, BGAD, who presented the letters. “When I see people in my command who do good work, I bump that information up the chain. I am pleased to recognize you all today for your efforts.”
