Blue Grass Team Member Receives Army Acquisition Honor

Sharon Valle, government property administrator, Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant, received the Army’s Defense Acquisition Workforce Individual Achievement Award at the Pentagon Dec. 8 for her leadership and direction of the plant’s property management system.

Sharon Valle, government property administrator, Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant, received the Army’s Defense Acquisition Workforce Individual Achievement Award at the Pentagon Dec. 8 for her leadership and direction of the plant’s property management system.

A Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) employee received top honors through the 2016 Defense Acquisition Workforce Achievement Awards program.

Government Property Administrator Sharon Valle was recognized for her achievements Dec. 8 during an award ceremony at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.

“Sharon is an indispensable asset to the Blue Grass project,” said Wes Watson, administrative contracting officer, BGCAPP. “Her efforts have ensured that accountability for hundreds of thousands of pieces of government property is documented, traceable and accurate. Her leadership and direction have resulted in millions of dollars of cost avoidance and significantly contributed to the overall BGCAPP safety record during construction and systemization.”

The Defense Acquisition Workforce Individual Achievement Award Valle earned was established to encourage and recognize Department of Defense individuals who demonstrate the highest levels of excellence and professionalism in the acquisition of products and services.

“In addition to more than $100 million in personal property, such as test equipment, tools and vehicles, Sharon has overall lifecycle responsibility for more than $1.8 billion in physical facilities and plant process equipment,” said Jeff Brubaker, site project manager, BGCAPP. “She organized and led a team that aligned the project’s property management with a depot-level property management system. That milestone is a requirement for the project to be able to receive future authorization for the start of agent operations.”

Watson said the U.S. Army Contracting Command has requested Valle’s assistance in training personnel engaged in managing government property to support overseas operations.
